Editing invoices

Would you like to make changes to your invoices? That's possible in some cases, but the steps depend on the status of your invoice. This is because invoices that have been finalised cannot normally be edited for accounting reasons. Below, you'll find out how to edit your invoices.

Editing draft invoices

If you're still in the draft phase, you have full freedom to edit the invoice. Just open the invoice, adjust the data and save your changes.

Editing finalised invoices

If you've already finalised the invoice, your editing options are slightly more limited:

Your invoice has not yet been sent via email or Peppol and has not yet been synchronised with your accountant

  • Edit the most recently finalised invoice
If you want to edit your most recent invoice, click on the three dots in the top right corner and select Back to Draft. This will make the invoice editable again.
  • Edit older invoices
If you want to adjust an older invoice, you'll need to first reopen all invoices created after it by reverting them to drafts. This is only possible if the invoice has not yet been sent and the invoices created after that have not yet been sent either. This might take some time, but it will allow you to edit older invoices. Don't forget to finalise your invoices again!

Please note: You can only reopen invoices that have not yet been paid. If you have added payments already, you can easily remove them by clicking on the Payments button. You can then reopen the invoice.

Your invoice has already been sent via email or Peppol and/or synchronised with your accountant

  • Edit a sent invoice

Unfortunately, you cannot reopen the invoice. You will need to create a credit note.

  • Edit a synchronised invoice

Unfortunately, you cannot reopen the invoice. You will need to create a credit note.

What if you'd rather not reopen invoices?

Consider using a credit note! This way, you can correct amounts and details without reopening previous invoices.
